October 2010 Town Newsletter

Utility Payments: Manila now has the ability to accept credit cards and debit accounts for the monthly charges for water, waste pickup, and wastewater.  This process has been facilitated with Zions Bank for the convenience of our users.  There is a $2.00 charge per transaction for either payment processing.  Call Lynette to use these payment methods.

Water tank and infrastructure project: Manila has closed the funding process for obtaining the USDA stimulus money.  The $2,713.436.00 will be handled in a construction account by Zions Bank.  The contractor bidding notices are published, the pre-bid meeting will be on October 12th and bids will be opened on October 20th.  The one million three hundred thousand gallon tank, approximately 9,000 feet of infrastructure, and fire hydrants project will begin in November 2010.  Weather permitting; the project should continue this year.

Fire station: Manila has submitted an application for funding a new fire station.  Currently the six fire units are stored in different locations which are not conducive to the best response to emergency.  The new station will house all the units in a central location and provide a modern structure for the department.  Manila plans to place the structure so that Daggett County Emergency services may add on in the future to house ambulance, EMT, and Search and Rescue if he commission found that a decision in their interest.

Columbus Day Holiday: The Manila office and landfill will be closed on October 11th, Monday, for the national holiday.  These will reopen on Tuesday 12th and Manila curbside household waste pickup will accomplished that day.
