June 2010 Town Newsletter
Community Cleanup: Remember to take advantage of the county wide clean up scheduled for June 11th-12th-14th. Work orders for waste pick up and fliers can be obtained from Manila and Dutch John businesses, and the Manila and County government offices, deadline is June 10th.
June Festival: We hope you are able to attend the Manila festival in the park on June 5th. If not you will miss a day of family fun including games for the children, a singing contest with prizes, food, and crafts and vendors. Where else could you have a good time in the fresh country air?
Water Consumer Confidence Report: The annual water consumer confidence report has been completed and is available for your review. Manila water personnel work around the clock to provide top quality water to every tap. The report demonstrates the outstanding quality of Manila Water. We ask that all of our customers help protect our water sources and to conserve this limited resource.
Awesome authors: Recently Bette Dickison’s second and third grade classes, with the teacher’s guidance, participated in a Utah statewide book writing competition in their grade levels and sponsored by the National Public Broadcasting System. Second graders Garrett Slaugh placed first in the State of Utah and Carsten Hughes placed second with their personal book efforts. This accomplishment is outstanding considering the magnitude of their peer competitors in Utah. Garrett will now compete at a national level. Congratulations to students and teacher.
Meter Project: Both Meterworks and Great Basin Construction continue to progress towards completion in June with the installation of radio read meters and new meter pits. Thank you for your patience.
Manila Fire: A new business called High Mountain Scuba has arranged with Manila Fire to utilize the department machine to refill tanks when it begins providing scuba diving lessons. High Mountain will arrange for quarterly recertification of the air filling machine and pay for the attachment to facilitate scuba tank use.
