December 2010 Town Newsletter

Water Meters: It is against Manila ordinance to open the water meter.  Requests have fallen on deaf ears and damage continues from forcing open the meters to turn them on or off.  System users who open the meters will be charged for the damage and face loss of water service.  Call Manila at 435-784-3143 and we will open the meters to turn them on or off.

Landfill: Extensive work has been done at the landfill to improve the appearance and operation.  A weeklong trackhoe use resulted in a new very large cell and burying of numerous eyesores.  Please help keep it in order by separating your loads and placing items in designated locations.

Water tank project: Gerber Construction began mobilization of equipment during the last week of November.  Their focus will begin with the one million-three hundred thousand gallon tank at the top of the valley.  The infrastructure upgrades will be scheduled for installation soon.  Completion of the tank is scheduled for the week before Memorial Day so it may be filled before the first major holiday weekend.

Fire Station Project: Manila administration is scheduled to appear in front of the funding board for consideration of authorizing this project.  This meeting is scheduled for December 10th in Salt Lake City.  Our hope is for funding to allow a spring building project.  Daggett County Commission will have the opportunity to use the site for building additions to complete an emergency related facility.  The desired result is a centrally located complex for the benefit of Manila, the citizens of this valley area and nearby Wyoming.

Christmas and New Years: The Manila administration office will be closed December 23rd and 24th for the Christmas Holidays.  The Council, Mayor, and Staff wish you the merriest of Christmas Holidays and a Happy New Year.

See you in Manila,

Chuck Dickison
Town Mayor
