Meter project: The meter and meter pit project has been underway since the week of March 8th. New pits are being placed in the county portion of the system with the starting area along Airport Road. New radio read meters have also been installed. Upon completion the system will have 870 new radio read meters and up to 350 new meter pits. The project was funded by Drinking Water with a $556,000 grant in stimulus money.
Main line replacement: Funding consisting of savings from the new well project will be used to replace over two miles of main line existing from the area of the new well and the valley. This line has been the source of eight (8) major breaks in two years. The project funding consists of approximately $280,000 already awarded in 2009 by CIB.
Census: The Census Bureau continues its quest for local applicants for area census workers. The pay is between $11.00-12.00 hourly and the work consists of form delivery in designated areas. Call Manila administration at (435) 784-3143 for information.
Water conservation:We all know that Utah is one of the driest states. Manila promotes state mandated conservation through a plan to preserve our culinary water. Outside watering is prohibited by ordinance from 10 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Please be conservation conscious with this resource.
Fire hazards: Property owners are asked to start doing weed abatement in an effort to reduce fire hazards before the dry season. A fire department response to a high weed fire call will cause the owner to be considered in violation of the Manila ordinance for cost recovery.
Landfill summer hours: Beginning Saturday April 3rd the Manila Class II landfill will begin the summer schedule. The facility will be open every Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. It will also be open every Monday from 9:00 A. M. until 12:00 P.M. except holidays on that day.
