December 2009 Town Newsletter

Manila Website: The Manila website is up and running and can be accessed at manilautah.com.  The site provides for the user to find a multitude of information about Manila and the surrounding area.  It is being updated monthly and steadily improved.

Christmas Tree Lighting: The annual lighting of the Manila Christmas tree will take place at the senior citizens center on 12-05-09 at 6:00P.M.  The festivities will begin with the fire department bringing Santa to the center, the tree lighting, visit with Santa, and hot chocolate and cookies for everyone along with an evening of good fellowship.  See you there!

Manila Fire Department: The annual fire department dinner will be held at the Senior Center on December 15th at 6:00 P.M.  The evening will provide a BBQ for the fire personnel and families and the recognition of fire department person of the year.  The department continues to train with personnel scheduling to participate with Sweetwater County Fire.

December Holidays: The Manila office will be closed on December 24th and 25th for Christmas.  The Council, staff, and Mayor wish you the merriest of Christmas holidays and a very Happy New Year

Birch Springs Draw Well: The new well is producing hundreds of gallons of pristine water per minute and is fully functional in the system.  All of the system is monitored by a radio based SCADA electronics which provides for well automation and tank function review.  We know have the ability to be notified by the system of any malfunction in production.

Santa Elves Program: The program still needs donations from individuals to be successful.  If you are so inclined to help provide assistance to area families to ensure children have clothing, food, and Christmas gifts, please call Andrea Scott at 435-784-3143 or Mandy Slaugh at 435 784-3515.  The program will begin this year with a screening process to ensure the appropriate area families benefit.

See you in Manila,

Chuck Dickison
Town Mayor
