September 2017 Newsletter

The Town would like to express sincere appreciation to Jessica Campbell who has served as the Deputy Clerk. She has taken employment elsewhere. She will be greatly missed in the front office as she served with devotion and dedication. We wish her the best with her future plans. Vicky Walters has been hired as the new Deputy Clerk--come on in and say Hello!

Water Improvement Project: The Mayor went before the Community Impact Board (CIB) on August 3, 2017, to ask for emergency funding in regards to the numerous problems the Town has been experiencing with an older section of our main transmission line and an old section of water pipe that the Town inherited from the Daggett County water system. I am pleased to report that the CIB board offered the Town of Manila a favorable funding package.

In anticipation of this funding, the Town has been pro-active. Sunrise Engineers have been working on hydraulic models and final designs; so, that once the funding was approved, this phase would be well advanced and we could expedite this project due to its emergency nature. Within the next few weeks all the necessary processes should be in place, and if all goes well, we should be able to start the pipe replacement and upgraded water connections in mid-October.

There will be a Public Hearing on September 14, 2017 at 6:30pm in the Town Council meeting room to receive input from the public with respect to the proposed water revenue bonds of the Town and the facilities to be financed with the bonds. (Please see attached letter for more information.)

Advance Notification: The Town Office will have limited services September 8-14. The Town Office will be closed on September 15th. Payments can still be made online, mail, or dropped in the outside slot. If building permits are needed they are available on the town website.

Thank you to all those who have beautified their homes and taken care of their lots in Manila throughout the year. We also appreciate those who have responded to our recent invitation to clean and mow their properties. For those who haven’t done this yet we want to remind you take care of this as soon as possible as these properties are becoming a public nuisance and a fire hazard.

With Love from Manila,

Mayor Gretchen Northcott
