September 2016 Newsletter

Greetings from the Town of Manila!

In order to be more cost effective, the Town of Manila has decided to enact paperless billing. So far we have had an overwhelmingly positive response. By January 1, 2017 we will be only sending out bills electronically. Within the next 4 months, please contact the town office how you would like to receive your monthly statements (computer, mobile phone, tablet etc.). In addition customers can sign up online on the manilautah.com website. Please contact Marlena Connor or Jessica Wardle or by phone 435-784-3143 with your information.

To Clarify: Customers may still hand-deliver, mail, make payments over the phone, set up for automatic debit authorization, or pay online.

There will be no additional fees associated with the Town’s paperless billing. Starting January 2017, those individuals who have not signed up for paperless billing will be charged an additional $2.00 processing fee to their monthly statement. Thank you for your support in our efforts to be more efficient and responsible with Town funds.

Daggett Daze activities will start on Friday Sept. 2 and continue through Monday, Sept. 5. New this year is a dance--with a live band--at the Fire Hall on Friday night starting at 8:00 pm! More information can be found at the Daggett Daze website. We hope you and your family/friends enjoy many of the local activities on Labor Day weekend. Thank you for celebrating with us!

We would like to invite you to the Farmers Market every Saturday at the Daggett County Park from 2-4pm until the end of September. Produce and non-produce items are sold. Anyone who would like to participate in this event are welcome. You do not need to contact anyone to participate. Thank you to Daggett County for hosting family friendly events!

A special thank you to all those who have beautified their homes and taken care of their lots in Manila throughout the year. We also appreciate those who have responded to our recent invitation to clean and mow their properties. For those who haven’t done this yet we want to remind you take care of this as soon as possible as these properties are becoming a public nuisance and a fire hazard.

We have been made aware that people may be illegally dumping their garbage in town residents’ garbage bins. Please watch for these infractions, not only for yourselves, but for your neighbors. Please report any violations to the Town Office. Ordinance allows for 5 bags of household waste (no yard waste). Summer Landfill Hours: Monday 9-12 Saturdays 9-2.

The Fire Department is looking for 6-8 able-bodied individuals, from the Town or County, to serve as volunteers. Monthly meetings are every 2nd and 4th Tuesdays at the firehouse. Contact the Town Office at 435-784-3143 or email for additional information.

The Town of Manila is still looking for interested citizens to sit on the Planning and Zoning Commission. Contact the Town Office at 435-784-3143 for more information.

We hope you enjoy the rest of your summer!
