August 2016 Newsletter
Greetings from the Town of Manila!
We would like to welcome Ross Catron as our newly appointed Town Council Member!
In order to be more cost effective, the Town of Manila has decided to enact paperless billing. By January 1, 2017 we will be only sending out bills electronically. Within the next 5 months, please contact the town office with your email address. Contact Marlena Connor or Jessica Wardle or phone 435-784-3143 with your information.
In addition, customers can sign up online on the manilautah.com website. We also have an “Automatic Debit Authorization” form you can request by email or calling the number above. There will be no additional fees associated with the Town’s paperless billing. Starting January 2017, those individuals who have not signed up for paperless billing will be charged a $2.00 processing fee each month. Thank you for your support in our efforts to be more efficient and responsible with Town funds.
There are many local activities to enjoy in August/September including the Jr. Rodeo Series, Tower Rock Run, Daggett Daze Parade and Activities, Parade of Lights at the Lucerne Marina, and the annual Pancake Breakfast. Please see more information on the Daggett County Website under the Economic Development tab.
Thank you to all those who have beautified their homes in Manila this past year and a special thank you to all those who mow their easements. As many of you know we do not have the personnel to mow our town easements and this simple act helps keep the Town of Manila looking better. For those who haven’t cleaned their properties, or mowed their lots, we want to remind you take care of this as soon as possible--your lots are becoming a public nuisance and a fire hazard. Contact the town of Manila for a list of licensed lawn care providers.
We have been made aware that people may be illegally dumping their garbage in town residents’ garbage bins. Please watch for these infractions, not only for yourselves, but for your neighbors. County residents and Vacationers need to take care of their own garbage needs. Ordinance allows for 5 bags of household waste (no yard waste) Landfill hours: Monday 9-12 Saturdays 9-2.
Just a friendly reminder to conserve water during the summer months. Outside watering is from 6pm-10am.
The Fire Department is looking for 6-8 able-bodied individuals, from the Town or County, to serve as volunteers. Monthly meetings are every 2nd and 4th Tuesdays at the firehouse. Contact the Town Office at 435-784-3143 or email for additional information.
The Town of Manila is also looking for interested citizens to sit on the Planning and Zoning Commission. Contact the Town Office at 435-784-3143 for more information.
Enjoy your summer here in Manila!
